Estimating the profitability of your all-in action can be difficult in a real game. There are a lot of parameters you should take into account. Use our push EV calculator to quickly figure out whether you shove in a given situation is profitable in the long run.
To calculate the EV of your push, you should know the following parameters:
- Size of the current pot. Before your push and your opponent’s call.
- Size of your push. When you go all-in, you put the maximum possible amount of chips in the pot. So basically your shove size is equal to the current effective stack.
- Size of the final pot. After your push and opponent’s call.
- Fold frequency. How often your opponent will fold against your all-in. Should be a number from 0 to 100. You should analyze your opponent’s range and make an assumption with what % of the hands your opponent will make a fold.
- Your equity against calling range. How does you hand stand against a range that your opponent plays a call with? Again, you should make an assumption based on your hand analysis. First, estimate what hands the calling range consists of, and second - check your hand’s equity against this range with our odds calculator.
